Don’t Apologize for Your Dream
Yeah, I post a lot of mountain scenery photos on Facebook.
Images of our great outdoors are all over my website, too. If we email each other, it’s just a matter of time until you receive a photo of the latest sunset or snowfall.
Yesterday I was at it again, and started to write an apologetic disclaimer to my photo-weary friends.
“Why do I post so many %&!$# photos of the mountains?…” it began.
With the cursor blinking, this realization came to mind:
Don’t apologize. These images are connected to a deep joy. Share – and explain!
My wife and I are so thankful to live in the high mountains… most days anyway. We’ve been here for five years and we still take photos almost every day. We’re humbled, and honored, and amazed.
There’s something about this place that connects with our heart. We feel alive here. Some people feel this way about beaches, prairies, woods, or cities. (Pretty cool that it works out that way, huh?)
Where you live matters, because relationships matter. Where you live matters, because your heart matters.
It took us many years to get here. Before we moved, we tried to appreciate every day of the journey, realizing joy does not come from a zip code. (Sounds contradictory, right? But contentment is part of the process.)
Beauty is an essential part of a healthy breakfast. When our tanks are full, we have more to give out to others.
Some people find themselves living in a place they love. Others are born to journey into far-off lands… or across town.
If your dream involves a change of scenery, understand that environment really matters. Take a small step toward your heart, and toward your dreams – and your dream location. It might take years, but you’ll grow in ways you never imagined.
Because your heart matters. So don’t apologize.
Tell me – Where will you be sending postcards and photos from?
