Thank God it’s Friday!
How many of you say that phrase every Friday? OK, I get it. Not everyone works a 9-5, Monday-Friday job. But I still hear “This is my Friday” from you folks that work random days.
Friday. The day before freedom.
Friday. The day when no one really works anyway.
Friday. Tomorrow I finally have time to exercise.
Friday. Is it 5 pm yet?
Friday. This weekend I will get started.
Friday. Thank goodness this week is finally over.
Friday. I can’t wait to do whatever I want for two days.
Friday. Is it 5 pm yet?
Friday. Tomorrow I finally have time to work on my dream.
Friday. Soon I can go home and live my life, spend time with my family and do whatever I want.
Friday. Is it 5 pm yet?
Friday. Yay! It’s 5 pm. Let’s start living!
Have you spent the entire week, 5 days, waiting to live your life?
Congratulations! You have just wasted 5 days of living your life. You’ve put your life on hold for 5 days because we all know that you can’t work on your dreams, goals and life during the week. We all know that it requires a day off work to do that. That the 15 minutes you had on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and on Friday does not equal 75 minutes of time you could have worked on your life and gotten a little bit further. And let’s not ignore that those 75 minutes each week for 50 weeks equals 62.5 hours in a year. That’s like a week and a half! I bet if you spent a week and a half working on your life you would accomplish quite a few things.
Let’s not wait for the weekend to live your life. Start today. Take 15 minutes each day to work towards your goals and dreams. Every day. Not just during your days off or when you have more time. Let’s not waste 62.5 hours to Facebook, TV or the Internet. Grab those 15 minutes and work on your life instead of waiting for the weekend to come around. Start living your life all days of your life.
Are you are TGIF person? Or do you work on your life every day?
That’s such a great perspective! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for reading! It’s quite amazing how many projects can be finished by working on them a little at the time or by breaking a larger goal into smaller goals and tackle one at the time.
I was a TGIF person, until this silly thing called 5 Club came into my life. It has morphed more to 6 Club now but I am taking everyday to work on my life. Great post. Great perspective.
Thanks! I love the 5 Club/6 Club. Getting up earlier in the morning is a great way to get things done. I’m so glad you are no longer a TGIF person and that you are hustling on your dream. Way to go!
Yet another great reminder! I think I have started trying to work on my life every day in the past year or so, but the hardest part is not letting those 15 minutes a day turn into a 60 minute or more distraction! The hardest part is focusing on my work day for 8 hours! 😉 Another challenge is not letting the limited time I have during the weekend completely overwhelm me so I get NOTHING done. I need to do as you suggest and just try to do a little each day – as you said, it adds up!
Thanks! A great way to think of time is budgeting it, just like we budget money. I have started to budget in social media time for a set amount of time each day or it becomes a huge distraction and time slips away. Our to-do lists tend to be too long, all the items on there that needs to be done makes it feel overwhelming so then the feeling of “why even bother” kicks in and yes, nothing or very little gets done, and you just feel defeated. It has taken me some serious practice and I’m still working on it but I now only put down one or two things to do each day. That’s it. I know I can accomplish that and it feels good. And yes, doing a little each day adds up to some serious time!
It drives me crazy when people say this at work– or on Monday when they repeat “it’s just a Monday” or act like everything is too ambitious for the first half of the week. You’re here, you’re alive, you’e awake– do something!
I hear you! It really shouldn’t matter if it’s Monday or Friday. Every day of the week is an amazing day to live your life!
