That question was asked by Shane McConkey’s teacher when he was in eighth grade. Now for many of you that read this you may have no idea who he was. Shane was a pro-skier and adventurer and if you have ever watched a ski-movie, he was most likely in it.
Here’s the video of his response to his teacher. And pay attention to his answer to the last question. That’s the part that I want you to really pay attention to.
He didn’t wait for some life altering event to go live his life. So why are you?
I know, I’m using an example of someone young, wild and free. Someone that eventually pushed his limits too far, had an unlucky day and is no longer with us. But Shane McConkey lived his life doing what he loved and was born to do. He died with no regrets.
Will you be able to say the same?
Don’t wait for a life altering event to wake you up. Don’t wait people. Start making changes towards living your life the way you and your family wants to. It takes hard work, it takes guts, it takes all kind of things but in the end, isn’t it worth enjoying your life instead of just going through the motions?
So what would you do with 30 days to live?

I would find a LARGE home near a beach or disney world where everyone I loved could live together for 30 days…they would all have the time off of their work, and we would just enjoy each other…play games, make memories, be silly, laugh loudly, hug constantly celebrate a birthday everyday ect…just one big love party!!!! oh that sounds amazing doesn’t it?:)

I agree! That sounds amazing to get to spend all that time with the people you love, celebrate, have fun, love and cherish each other 🙂 I think most of us would love to spend that kind of time with friends and family.

You couldn’t have chosen a better subject to demonstrate how to follow your heart and live in the moment! If we followed our hearts even a fraction as much as Shane McConkey did, we would all be the better for it. Thank you for the great reminder!

Awe, thanks! I totally agree on that if we followed our hearts even a fraction as much as Shane McConkey we would be so much better for it. He truly followed his dream and lived life to the fullest.

That’s so awesome! I can’t believe I haven’t seen that video before. Makes me wanna find a bunch of 8th graders to give that assignment. 😀 Thanks for sharing. I think one thing I would do is write a note to my family & other people in my life so that they would find that when I’m gone…& maybe accompany it with a meaningful gift to inspire them. Hmm, something new to add to my bucket list! 🙂 I kind of do that now in my journals, but that’s a lot of stuff to read through & isn’t addressed to one person. Such a good question!

I know – it’s a great question! And one that I don’t think we ask ourselves often enough but when we do we realize we need to live our lives with a bit more urgency. Do now, not later.
