The World Needs Your Hustle poem – Giveaway

September 8, 2014 by Camilla

My friend Kevin, who blogs over at Living Out My Journey wrote a great poem called The World Needs Your Hustle that I wanted to share with you.

The world needs your hustle
they need your dreams, your goals, your aspirations.
They need the gift that you have been given,
which is waiting to be released.

The world needs your hustle
they need your ideas, your faith in the unknown
your hope for a better life.
They need you to be you and to know that your
hustle matters because they matter.

The world needs your hustle
it will not be easy
and there will be days when you want to give up,
but in those moments you must remember
why you are doing this and who it is for, and
let that serve as your inspiration and
strength to keep going.

So keep dreaming, keep sacrificing,
do whatever it takes to make it happen.
Take the next step.
Because the world needs your hustle.

Why does the world need your hustle? Because you were given gifts that other people need. Every single one of you have a story that can help someone else. Every single one of you have a talent that no one else has. Every single one of you is unique.

Don’t let your talents get dusty working at a job you hate. Don’t let your talents get dusty and forgotten about because life got busy. Don’t wait until everything is perfect or wait for some day. Perfect is an illusion. Just start.

Write your business plan on a napkin. Tell your friends about your services. Ignore the haters. They are just jealous. Share your words through a blog or book. Start an Etsy shop. Put your dream up on a vision board. Write down your dream and put on the fridge. Take steps every day towards your dream by hustling.

The world needs to hear your voice. The world needs you to use your talents and knowledge instead of suppressing them. So do me a favor. Take that small step today, not tomorrow, and decide to hustle on living out your journey and use the gift you were given that no one else has.

Go out and tell the world your dream. Tell them you’re going to hustle and go live your dream. Because life is too short to live someone else’s dream.

Kevin joined up with another friend of mine, Rachel who is a great artist. I’m giving away a copy (wrinkles included which adds some extra charm) that you can frame and hang on your wall. All you have to do is to leave a comment below on what you will do today in order to move forward on your dream and then I will pick a winner on Tuesday September 16, 2014.

What Are You Waiting For?

April 7, 2014 by Camilla

Are you wondering where life went? Or where life is going? Join the club. No one sets out to wake up years or even decades later wondering where life went and what happened to dreams and aspirations.

As a child you dreamed and the sky was the limit. You lived a lot more in the now. But as an adult that got put on the sideline for later. Life got busy and there’s always later, right?

Do you ever find yourself saying this?

I will do that when I have the time.
I will do that when I have more money.
I will do that, someday.
I will do that when time is right.
I will do that when I’m married.
I will do that when I’m retired.
I will do that when the kids are in college.
I will do that when the weather is better.
I will do that, someday.

Now replace a few words and read these out loud.

I will live my life doing what matters when I have the time.
I will live my life doing what matters when I have more money.
I will live my life doing what matters, someday.
I will live my life doing what matters when time is right.
I will live my life doing what matters when I’m married.
I will live my life doing what matters when I’m retired.
I will live my life doing what matters when the kids are in college.
I will live my life doing what matters when the weather is better.
I will live my life doing what matters, someday.

Just by changing a few words do you see how those excuses no longer work?

If someone you know said: “I will live my life doing what matters, someday” you would think they are crazy. Why would anyone wait to live their life doing what matters? Yet, many do.

Seven days someday quote

You’re reading this because you want something different in your life. You want change. You want to live a life doing what matters. You want to pursue your passions and dreams. So when you default to “I will do that, someday” change that to “I will life my life doing what matters, someday” Because when you do, you start realizing how silly that sounds.

It takes a little practice. It’s so easy to default to ‘someday.’ Now of course it’s impossible to do everything that day. Make a list of all the things you want to accomplish and have in your life. Put them in order of priority. Set goals. Be intentional with your time. And just get started. Small steps make giant leaps.

One of the best books out there that can help you get off the average path and help you pursue your dreams is Jon Acuff’s Start: Punch Fear in the Face, Escape Average and Do Work that Matters. It’s one of those books that not only encourages you and makes you think but it also gives you hands on instructions that helps you get going.

Since today’s post is meant to make you think let’s round it up with another great quote.

“The best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago. The second best time is now.” Chinese proverb

What is one thing you are going to start today instead of someday?

This is your life. Are you where you want to be?

March 16, 2014 by Camilla

This is your life

I recently started listening to Michael Hyatt’s podcast. If you haven’t listened to them or checked out his blog I highly recommend you do. Michael Hyatt has a lot of great information to share and writes about personal development, intentional leadership, productivity and much more.

So what brings me to write this blog post? Simple. The lyrics to a song that Michael Hyatt use as his theme song for his podcasts. I immediately recognized the song and remembered hearing it before but this time around the lyrics really popped out at me.

I found the following YouTube video that has the lyrics written on the screen. Crank up the volume because the song is really good and one that you will find yourself singing along to.
My favorite part of the lyrics are:

This is your life, are you where you want to be

This is your life, are you where you want to be

This is your life, is it everything you dreamed that it would be

When the world was younger and you had everything to lose

This is your life, are you who you want to be
This is your life, are you who you want to be
This is your life, is it everything you dreamed that it would be
When the world was younger and you had everything to lose

Why? Because if we ask ourselves this every single day it reminds us to work harder on not only being who we want to be but help us get to where we want to be. After all that’s the goal. Not to waste our life but pursue living it with purpose and in a way that is authentic to us.

I hope the lyrics inspire you as much as they inspire me.

Remember, this is your life and it’s happening right now. Are you working on living it or wasting it?
